Jess approaches each portrait as a study in bearing rather than performance.

Background

Having lived and worked internationally, Jess brings a refined, understated sensibility to a traditionally formal genre. Her practice is informed by a lifelong proximity to horses and a deep respect for their individuality.

She works primarily with equestrian families and private collectors, creating bespoke commissions that reflect both the subject and the relationship between horse and owner.

Process & Materials

All works are painted in oil on canvas using archival materials.
Portraits are typically life-size or large-format, allowing the subject’s presence to be fully realised. Each commission is approached individually and with discretion.

Based in South Africa, Jess works with collectors internationally.
